Telemetry Unit

The Telemetry Unit is a 15-bed unit located on the second floor of the hospital. The focus of the unit is to provide privacy, a quiet environment that promotes healing. All the rooms are private. Round the clock nursing care is provided by a team of health care professionals dedicated to working with patients in need of cardiac monitoring. Specially trained registered nurses and certified nursing assistances are committed to deliver high quality patient care. All nurses are ACLS trained.

Our state-of-the-art monitoring equipment measures and transmits accurate, uninterrupted data about the patient’s cardiac function to a trained monitor technician 24 hours a day. Our telemetry technicians are specifically trained to understand the monitoring information and communicate it to the nurses.  Our telemetry nurses are specially educated to assess the patient, interpret the monitor data to respond quickly, professionally to the patient’s urgent medical needs.

In addition, our nurses reassure and teach the patient about the monitoring experience and other aspects of their care. They will refer patients to any additional services they may need, including those provided by our chaplain, or social worker. The nurses are dedicated compassionate caretakers of their patient’s recovery.

In preparing for the patient’s discharge, knowledge of medication administration and a functional assessment is completed as well as assessment related to activities of daily living.

The Social Worker (Case Manager) is assigned to the telemetry unit. The Social Worker is an expert in helping the patient and the family members understand and adjust to the patient’s condition. The Social Worker assists the family in making the transition home.
